Kennicott Bible

Folio 47

Folio 47

Parashat Mishpatim The first page contains a textual illustration; the naked captive squatting bound to the left of the sign for parashat Mishpatim can be recognised as the captive chained to a cup in the six of cups. Joseph Ibn Hayyim, the artist drew the captive twice, in reverse, to the right of the parashah sign. The words parashah are drawn in gold within an intricate blue and red panel above which squat the two captives. The entire parashah spans three leaves (folios 47-49).
Leaf size is approximately 320 x 262mm (12.5 x 10in)
